Mayo Clinic
Overview
I conducted usability tests on new designs for medical software, leading to a 30% increase in user satisfaction. In addition to this, I created and implemented user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and UI specifications that guided the development process. I was instrumental in creating, iterating on, and expanding our product offerings, particularly within a SaaS application. I also participated in the maintenance of a comprehensive design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across the product. My work involved developing and maintaining design wireframes and specifications, which I shared with both designers and developers as best practices. I effectively communicated scenarios, end-to-end experiences, interaction models, and use cases with the team to ensure alignment. Additionally, I created data visualizations that not only informed but also provided actionable value to our customers, further enhancing the user experience for B2C and B2B products.
New Product: B2B Surgical Viewer
The first product my role was responsible for was called the Surgical Viewer. It was client facing product that had already completed discovery and the first round of research. Upon introduction to current state of the product, I quickly studied the research to understand reasoning for current state of the UI design.

Additional UI: Patient History Timeline
After conducting usability studies with surgeons using the Surgical Viewer, a clear demand emerged for an enhanced interface. Surgeons expressed the need for a tool that would allow them to view a patient’s entire medical history in a more controlled and comprehensive manner. They envisioned a historical feature integrated into the Surgical Viewer to aid in making more informed and precise medical decisions.
Enhanced Product: Surgical Calculators
My efforts encompassed a comprehensive focus on incorporating and showcasing auto-populated data provenance within the interface, ensuring all inputs were meticulously addressed. I spearheaded usability studies to validate and refine the new UI design, driving enhancements and iterative improvements based on real user feedback. As the contract concluded, I delivered the final design iterations and successfully completed the Clinical Calculator UI, along with its new functionalities and refined behaviors.

Challenges
Management approached me regarding a team member’s dissatisfaction due to my absence from optional working sessions, exacerbated by a period of high workload and tight deadlines. I explained that, given the need to balance multiple projects and my inability to work unpaid overtime, I prioritized focusing on deliverables over attending non-essential meetings. I committed to addressing the team member’s concerns and improving communication, leading to a mutual understanding and a successful completion of the contract.
